n the abundance of Your mercies, O Lord, pour out the shadow of Your compassion over Your servants in the night, and inclining Your ear to the cries of our supplications, erase the disgraceful deeds of all. May this gift, O Almighty God, become acceptable in the sight of Your glory, which we offer for the well-being of all the faithful, for the return of captives to their homes, for the gathering of all those scattered, for the relief of all those oppressed, and for the rest of the souls of all the faithful who have passed away. You, who are aware of our trembling before Your majesty, we make known before You the intentions of our souls, and rising at this appointed time for the customary chanting of the office, we offer to You the cries of our prayers. Be gracious, O Lord, and hear us, be merciful, and hear us, favorably assist us, for You alone have the power to consider the desires of our eternal longing. Grant, by the abundant gift of Your mercy, that we may remain unharmed everywhere from the attacks of demons. Thus, we who live in the dark expanse of this world, may we merit to enjoy here the perpetual light of eternal day.
